Jordan Sparks

Jordin Sparks is a talented musician, and one of which we would not know of if it were not for American Idol. Although with the talent Jordin Sparks’ has it was only inevitable that she would become a walking success. Clearly Jordin Sparks knows how to sing and she won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Biography

Jordin Brianna Sparks was born on December 22, 1989, in Phoenix, Arizona, to mother Jodi Weidmann (who is white) and father Phillippi Sparks (who is black), a former NFL defensive back. After attending Orchard Elementary School in Rodgewood, New Jersey, Jordin Sparks attended Community Christian School before going on to Sandra Day O’Connor High School. She dropped out in 2006 and was homeschooled for the remainder of high school so she could give more attention to her singing.

Jordin Sparks began taking part in various singing competitions and, in 2006, she was one of six winners in the Torrid search for the next plus-sized model. That was the year Jordin Sparks also found herself auditioning for American Idol in front of three of the toughest, most well-known judges: Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell.

While performing on Season Six of American Idol, Jordin Sparks not only gained recognition from the judges but she also gained a solid fanbase of “sparkplugs.” She was never in the bottom two or three throughout the entire show, and she won the season in May 2007.

Following her win, Jordin Sparks made appearances on Live With Regis and Kelly, The Today Show, The View, and Larry King Live, and she was featured in Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, Glamour, and more.

In 2007, Jordin Sparks released her debut self-titled album to favorable reviews. The hit “Tattoo” went on to become a top 10 single, and “No Air” soared to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In February 2008, Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XLII. She went on to become the opening act on the Alicia Keys’ As I Am tour.

American Idol Elliott Yamin Return to Richmond Va Performance

On Saturday August 16, Richmond Virginia Native and American Idol Finalist came back to town and performed at the Richmond Brave Minor League Baseball Game. No Elliott was not playing 3rd base for the Richmond Braves, rather he did was he does best. He sang.

Here is Elliot Yamin singing the National Anthem.

Elliott Yamin did however get some time to test his baseball skills with the Richmond Braves, as he shagged some balls in the outfield, took batting practice, signed autographs as part of the Inspired by Diabetes campaign and sang the national anthem.

Yamin managed to make contact on some pitches during his two rounds of batting practice, hitting a few infield grounders and one looper over shortstop.

“It’s just real cool, man,” Yamin said between rounds. “I’ve always dreamed of being a singer or a professional athlete. Obviously, if I was a professional athlete, I’d be one of the smallest.”

Yamin is 5-6, 152 pounds.

“After watching him swing, he’s got potential - to be a good singer,” R-Braves manager Dave Brundage said. “He looks to be a prospect - just not in baseball.”

The American Idol Live tour Kicked off last night in Glendale, Ariz. Our very own special commenter “Idol Fan-Addict” will give us a full review. She was at the show. Look for that review shortly. Idol Kristy Lee Cook Signs with 19 Recording - Arista

It was announced that American Idol season 7 contestant Kristy Lee Cook Signed a record deal.

American Idol finalist Kristy Lee Cook has signed with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville. Her first single, 15 Minutes of Shame, arrives Aug. 11, and the album follows in the fall. The album is being produced by Brett James, who co-wrote Jesus, Take the Wheel for former Idol champion Carrie Underwood. The signing marks the return for Cook, 24, to Arista Nashville. She was signed to the label as a teen but dropped before recording anything. Cook will record her album while touring with American Idols Live, which kicks off Tuesday in Glendale, Ariz., and runs through Sept. 13.

So I guess with her record deal and the Idol’s Summer Tour, Kristy will be able to Buy Back Her Horse, she had to sell to make it to the Idol contest!

American Idol Final 3 Song Themes May 13, 2008

American Idol has come down to 3 contestants remaining, David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado.  For the Final 3 performance round of 5-13-08 the idols will sing 3 songs.  One of the songs will be the contestants own song choice, one will be chosen from one of the judges and the third song will be chosen from the producers.

Through Spoilers we learned that David Cook has chosen and will perform “The World I Know” by Collective Soul as his song choice.  Judge Simon Cowell picked the song for David Cook and it is “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack.

On May 14, 2008 one of the Idols will be voted off and we will have our final 2 show down with performances on May 20, 2008 and the American Idol Season 7 winner announced May 21, 2008.

Finally! Jason Castro may have been one of the most unique American Idols, but in the past few weeks it’s like he doesn’t even care, or he’s ready to get his pot-smoking on instead of taking any of it seriously. He’s blown off advice from the mentors, and sang his songs like a bad audition unworthy of even getting a Hollywood golden ticket!

Well, you were entertaining, Jason, but your time has long been up! What do you think we’ll see from ol’ Fidel Dreadhead in the future? Hopefully he’ll be hanging around Bonnaroo doing the hippie shuffle!
